History
I started playing piano when I was 4 years old, flute when I was 8, and clarinet when I was 13. I started teaching flute when I was 16 and I haven't stopped teaching music since.
When my daughter started 7th grade at St. Michaels in Greenfield, they weren't able to have band class twice a week for the 7th graders due to scheduling problems with the current band director. I volunteered to help out and that started some of the most rewarding times of my life. Teaching band to middle schoolers and opening up their musical horizons was so much fun. From arranging music for them to play, to concerts, to contest, my musical journey was just as much fun as theirs.
I started playing in a praise band at my church when my children were little. I was privileged to work with some very talented amateur and professional musicians. From playing whatever instrument was needed to writing parts for myself and others of the group, performing with this group was amazing.
I have continued to write music, self-publish lesson books, and am currently writing a music history book.
